WIMAPS Meeting Report
by Scott Malawski

Our most recent meeting, hosted by members Steve and Mary Puntillo, was held on Sunday, March 15, at their shop, Paragon Video & Stereo, located in Madison, WI. Prior to the start of the meeting, members got to talk shop, enjoy a variety of baked goods provided by members, and purchase phonograph items at our mini-flea market.

President Margaret then called the meeting to order after which members toured Steve Puntillo’s amazing collection of early technology.Meetings for 2015 were discussed and member Mike Laven will be hosting a meeting on Sunday, May 3 at his beautiful home in Milwaukee, WI. Rob and Joan Rolfs will host the July 4th meeting and members will be privileged to see a fantastic collection of rare phonographs and memorabilia, along with the traditional summer meeting flea market.

Secretary, Scott briefly discussed how he preserved the remains of his original 1912 Edison Projecting Kinetoscope film, “Sally Ann’s Strategy” and produced advertising cards with an individual film cell pasted to each card. He has made these available for sale at $8 each. Channel 27 news also came to film a story on the first commercially manufactured television set in the United States, made by the Western Television Corporation of Chicago in 1929. Members were surprised to learn that television did exist that early.

Members then feasted on a variety of pizzas from a local pizza restaurant, generously provided by club funds. Everyone enjoyed lots of good food and conversation, after which members departed from another successful meeting.
