Wisconsin Illinois Musical Antique Phonograph Society Report
by Scott Malawski

It was a beautiful summery day when the WIMAPS society fall meeting was held on Saturday, September 27, at the Mid-Continent Railroad Museum, located in North Freedom, WI. Meeting host, Richard Dipping is a volunteer at the museum and was gracious to give members a private tour.

Everyone was excited to experience an “old fashioned” train ride touring the scenic countryside in cars built in 1915, while listening to train-themed records played on a Columbia portable phonograph provided by Robin and Joan Rolfs.

After the 55-minute train ride, members gathered at a pavilion for our meeting. We are excited to report our society has 84 members, which is the highest number in our club’s history. Some of our newest members came from the Grayslake Antiques Show, recently held on the weekend of September 13, which was a well-attended show.

Joan Rolfs reported the DVD purchased in memory of Jan Keuler, “Phonograph Conversations,” has been well received with only 3 copies out of 10 still available for donation to educational institutions. We are confident the last 3 DVDs will be donated by other members attending upcoming meetings.

President Margaret Bisberg reported upcoming events including the second Larry Schlick collection auction, to be held on October 26-27 at Donley’s Wild West Town in Union, IL. and the Stanton auction on November 20. Our next meeting will be held at the home of Mark and Margie Kranz on November 8.

Members thanked Richard Dipping for his splendid hospitality and gave him a round of applause. Richard then took club members on an awesome private museum tour to bring our fun-filled day to a close.WIMAPSatStation
